American Methodist pastor and writer, born in Shidler, Indiana, where he also grew up. He gained a B.A. at Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana, 1940, and a degree in Theology in 1945 at Garrett Theological Seminary in Evanston, Illinois, which is run by the Methodist Church. He subsequently worked as a pastor in a number of Methodist congregations in various parts of the USA, including in Bloomington, Illinois. That was also where he settled when he became a pensioner in 1981 after suffering from a heart attack. In 1939 he married Mary Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Lore, and the couple had two children. He died in Bloomington after period of illness.
