Harry Kemelman was an American mystery writer and professor of English. He was born in Boston to Russian-Jewish immigrant parents. Kemelman attended Boston Latin School 1920–1926 at the same time as he studied Hebrew and the Talmud. He enrolled at Boston University in 1926 and graduated with a BA in English in 1930. He then took his Master degree at Harvard. He taught at various establishments and married a Danish woman, Anne Kessin, in 1932.
