The editor, journalist and publisher Frank Harris was born in Ireland. He was a notorious womanizer who became an American citizen, but later returned to Europe where he lived in various locations including London and Nice. Harris’s novels and plays are largely forgotten unlike his immoral, fantastical, but partially true memoirs, My Life and Loves, published in four volumes between 1922 and 1927. A posthumous fifth volume came out in 1950. The erotic classic is still in print, although the prose is somewhat dry and only part of the book deals with his love life. Excerpts, mainly erotic passages, have been published in a number of languages.
