Coelho, Paulo

Brazilian author born in Rio de Janeiro. After dropping out of law school he started travelling around Latin America, Europe and North Africa in the early seventies. Over the years, he has published articles in a number of Brazilian and international magazines, for example on the subject of Brazilian music for Billboard. Coelho has written lyrics for a number of celebrated Brazilian stars and he has worked for CBS, Polygram and other record companies. He is the founder of the Instituto Paulo Coelho that supports a school in a poor district of Rio de Janeiro and other charitable projects. He is a member of the Brazilian Academy of Letters and lives in Rio de Janeiro and France together with his wife.
