Norwegian author, pianist and composer born in Oslo. Ketil Bjørnstad studied for Robert Riefling and Amalie Christie. He made his debut with Piano Concert no. 3 by Béla Bartók together with the Oslo Philharmonic in 1969. As a composer he has been described as a romantic impressionist strongly influenced by contemporary jazz, but rock music is also part of his repertoire. Bjørnstad has recorded some sixty works. In the 1960s and 70s, he lived on Sandøya off the southern coast of Norway. He now lives in Oslo and Paris.
