Irish author born in Dublin. He is the brother of the singer Sinéad O'Connor and the oldest of five children. His father was an engineer who later became a barrister. Their home was full of books and the parents were interested in culture. In his teens, O'Connor read a great deal and dreamed about becoming an author.
