Lorac, E.C.R.

Edith Caroline ‘Carol’ Rivett was one of Great Britain’s most productive writers of crime fiction during the years 1931-58. Under her best-known pseudonym, E.C.R. Lorac, she wrote more than 40 novels about Detective Chief Inspector Robert Macdonald as well as three with other problem-solvers. As Carol Carnac she wrote 20 or so titles, most of them featuring Detective Inspector Ryvet or Detective Chief Inspector Julian Rivers as problem-solvers. Under her own name, Carol Rivett, she also published a couple of novels that were not about crime, as well as a book for young adults. She only wrote a handful of short stories, and they were never published in book form.
