The British novelist, essayist, short story writer and critic Aldous Huxley was born in Godalming in Surrey. He belonged to a family with many prominent persons: his grandfather T.H. Huxley was a biologist and one of the most important of Darwin's advocates, his brother Julian also became a famous biologist, and his halfbrother Andrew won the Nobel Prize in medicine, and the list could continue.
