Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald (F. Scott Fitzgerald) was an American novelist and author of short stories born in St. Paul, Minnesota to a wealthy family of Irish descent. He attended Princeton University where was more socially than academically talented. He dropped out in 1917, joined the army and was shipped to France, but he never served at the front. He spent long periods after the war in Europe, mainly on the Riviera and in Paris. He died in Hollywood of a heart attack after a long period of ill health.
