Swedish author and journalist, born in Tranås and raised in Vrigstad and Sävsjö. Åke Edwardson studied history of literature and journalism at Växjö, Göteborg and Lund with a break in 1981–1982 when he served with UN forces in the Middle East. He graduated in 1987 and then worked for the regional dailies Smålänningen and Göteborgs-Posten until he became a freelance writer in 1992, specialising in travel and biographical articles. He has been living in Gothenburg since 1985, where he has taught and had the position of head of the department at the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at Göteborg University. He has been married to his childhood sweetheart Rita since 1977. The couple have two daughters.
